Tariff Tantrum
A recent article that feels like a scene from a teen drama, B.C. Premier David Eby is asking all of Canada to come together against Donald Trump’s tariff threats. Trump has said that Canada and Mexico need to do more about two big issues; illegal migration and fentanyl trafficking. If they don’t, he’s threatened to put tariffs on everything coming from these countries. Not a very friendly way to negotiate...
During a recent meeting about Canada and U.S. relations, Eby stated his worries about these threats. He warned that Trump’s tariffs could really hurt workers and businesses in both countries. Eby also promised that B.C. will protect local businesses from these possible tariffs... Why don’t we send Trump a big fruit basket and call it a day?
Also, Ontario’s Premier Doug Ford said the federal government agreed to some of his requests, like adding more police at the border and tracking where fentanyl is coming from in Canada. Sounds good, but let’s hope they don’t turn it into a reality show called “Keeping Up with the Border Patrol”.
Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister, said that many leaders in Canada want to take strong action if Trump goes ahead with his plan to add tariffs in January. Everyone in Canada is trying to work together to avoid any big problems that could happen because of this.
In the end, let’s hope everything works out and Trump finds the fruit basket extremely flattering.
