Area 51’s Troublemakers are Loose

The skies over New Jersey have turned into something straight out of a sci-fi movie. Every night, large drones as wide as six feet are seen flying over locations like police stations, water reservoirs, and even Donald Trump’s golf course. The mystery has been discussed by locals, lawmakers, and the FBI. Personally, I can’t decide whether to feel intrigued, anxious, or both.

What stands out most is the abrupt scale of the sightings. Governor Phil Murphy reported there were 49 sightings in one day alone, though it's possible some might have been duplicates. Murphy tried to calm residents, saying on December 5th, “There is no known threat to the public at this time.” But is that really reassuring? Assembly woman Dawn Fantasia disagreed. She called those statements “incredibly misleading” and added, “We know nothing. PERIOD.” Her frustration shows how many residents must feel.

Then there’s the technology these drones seem to have. Fantasia described them as avoiding detection by helicopters and radio frequencies, sometimes flying with their lights off. Are these sightings unnatural? Congressman Jeff Van Drew claimed, “Iran was behind the drones,” but Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh dismissed the theory, saying, “There is absolutely no truth to that.”

So, if it’s not Iran, then who? Some locals have joked about aliens or Santa’s upgraded sleigh, but it’s funny until it could become a real threat. Van Drew warned, “Gaps in our airspace are being exploited, and because of it, the safety of Americans is at risk.” It’s hard to argue with that when even the FBI admits they don’t have answers.

This reminds me of the Chinese surveillance balloon earlier this year. The delay in action back then made people uneasy, and now we’re facing a similar situation. Are we prepared to handle whatever it is? The FBI has asked residents to send photos and videos of the drones, but the fact that they’re relying on citizen evidence feels unsettling. Shouldn’t they have more advanced tools to track these objects?

All we’re really left with is more questions than answers. Are these drones part of some government program? An experiment? Something more unatural? Until we’re provided with a real explanation, it’s hard to feel at ease with this. What’s flying above us may be harmless, or might not be...
